Leadership
We are lead by a Director and Assistant Director and supported by a staff, 16 primary care-giving teachers, 7 support teachers, and assistants as well as a cook.

Staff
After reviewing applicants’ education and childcare experience, each potential staff member is interviewed by the Director or Assistant Director. During the interview we try to get a sense of the applicant’s underlying beliefs about how young children develop and learn, as well as the role that the child care environment plays in influencing that learning and development. We ask questions and present hypothetical situations that are typical in childcare classrooms to discover the applicants understanding of how to interact and communicate with young children and their parents.

After the interview applicants are asked to spend some time in a classroom interacting with the children and teachers. They are free to ask questions of the teacher and encouraged to get a feel for the classroom. This also gives us a chance to observe how the children respond to them and to get input from some of the teaching staff.

Assuming the interview and interaction are positive, we do at least two reference checks to learn about the applicants work habits and performance. Once a position is offered, the applicant is required to provide proof of a recent TB test, copies of transcripts and a local criminal record check. A more in-depth criminal record check is the performed by the Division of Child Development during the employee’s first few weeks of employment.
